My problem on my main computer which this one runs off the interner via a
wireless router is that when you start up the computer it goes like it should
up to where you choose the user you want to pick on the computer once it says
windows is setting the settings it hesitates then it comes up to a blank desk
top and no task bar either you have no way to get to the start up or into
anything. the control alt delete button does work but that only shows that
nothing is really running, I have tried the safe mode restore and it isnt
working that way either. i have no idea what the admin password is we have
tried everything we would have used and none of them have worked as i was
going to try and restore from a system restore disc is there any way i can
get back into my windows menu or get my desktop to showup as i did do a
diagnostic test of the drives already and they were ok

Use the Control Alt Delete which should bring up the Task Manager. Then in
the File menu select New Task (Run) and type:

explorer.exe

Does this bring up the Desktop? If it does, then follow the direction in the
following KB article, assuming you have Administrative privileges:

How to copy data from a corrupted user profile to a new profile
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=811151

If the desktop does not appear after typing in "explorer.exe" then try
typing in "control userpasswords". If the User Accounts window opens then
follow the previously mentioned KB article.

I tried what you told me but nothing really happen the desktop didnt open but
the cpu useage went to 17 % the drops down to zero is there anything else i
can do or try also for some reason the computer doesnt reconize anything we
would of used for the adminstator pw we tried everything we would have so
that hampers us too any help will be greatly appreciated
