Help desktop icons disappeared

Recently my desktop icons disappeared, for no apparent
reason. I have windows xp and was wondering if anyone
knew a way to fix this. The programs are all still
listed through the start menu and work, but this was my
father-in-laws computer and he really wants his icons
back. Thanks.

HAL,

Look for the Unused Desktop Shortcuts folder on the Desktop.
Turn the Desktop Cleanup Wizard off.
