I have a small USB drive that just plugs into the USB port, no special
drivers required. And XP does indeed find it at once. You can format it,
and copy files to it.

The problem is that corruption happens once a file is copied to the
drive. I tried calculating checksums on the files and the all end up
damaged. It seems to be "bits and pieces", if its a picture you may be
able to see some of it while parts of it have been destroyed.

Its a small 2.5 so its supposed be to able to run with just the power
from the USB plug but you can also attach external power, it seems to
make no difference.

Trying different USB slots do not seem to have an effect either.

Any ideas!? What is going wrong :-/

Is it a laptop HDD inside it? Maybe your HDD is shot if it is
Just my 2c

Yes it was from a labtop. And i might be. But the corruption varies.
Sometimes a file is fine sometimes its not...

Hi

Usually you can phone up the place where you bought it from and they should be able swap it over for a new one

Hi,

Usually you can phone up the place where you bought it from and they should be able swap it over for a new one.

Except it was given to me a year ago by someone else.

Come on, is that the only option? "it must be broke" - not very
promising..
