How do you copy data from a CD onto a blank CD in Vista? I need to copy some
data that is on the CD and can't figure out how to make a copy of it. any
suggestions? Thanks.

Melanie,

If you have two CD drives, simply copy files (drag and drop) from one to the
other.

If you only have one CD drive, drag and drop the files you want to copy to a
new empty folder on your hard drive and then insert the new CD into your CD
Drive, format it for data, then drag and drop the files from your C drive to
the formatted CD drive.

Thanks a lot for responding. Is that the only way of doing it with one drive
or is there an easier way?

Melanie,

There is no easier/faster way with only 1 CD drive - sorry!

Most CD writing software can do a 1-step exact
copy of a CD, if you want that. And all CD drives
come with a suitable program, like EZ CD Creatrot,
Nero, NTI, B's Recorder, etc. If you have such a
program installed check the menu for a CD copy
option.

Hi, Melanie.

You can see your computer; we can't. So we don't know if you have a network
or some other place to store the data temporarily while you change CDs in
your only burner. Unless you have some such temporarily storage space,
you'll have to keep it on your hard drive while you switch media.

You also haven't told us how big the "some data" is. But most CDs max out
at under 700 MB, so if you have a 1.0 GB USB thumb drive with plenty of free
space, you could drag-n-drop your files from the first CD to that while you
switch to the second CD and prepare it to receive the data.

But your data has to be SOMEWHERE while you change disks. Just like Bob
said.

What about copying CD-Roms and DVD-Roms? (for personal use of course)
Do you know to do that in Vista? coz I'm stumped.

CD Roms and DVD Roms same process Melanie. UNLESS you use a CD/DVD software
package such as MagicISO
