Is there any way to disable the "Send To" feature?

Every time I right-click on a file in explorer, then scroll down to "delete"
or anything below "Send To", it hangs when it hits Send To for anywhere from
10 to 20 seconds.

It's kind of a pain in the ass, and I never use the Send To feature anyway...

Thanks in advance for your help.

You can find the "Send To" destinations in %userprofile%\SendTo (a hidden
folder). Perhaps there's a destination in there that's making the system
"look" or try to find?

You could experiment deleting some of the contents at:

C:\Documents and Settings\<login account name>\SendTo

CAVEAT
This folder (and files) may be hidden unless you have elected to "Show
hidden files and folders".
In Windows Explorer go to Tools > Folder Options > View (tab)
Then scroll down to the section named "Hidden files and folders."

Thanks guys. Yeah - I experimented with the Send To folder a lot; I took
things out, put things in, tried to narrow it down to figure out if there was
an item in there that was slowing the thing down. Nothing I tried worked, so
at this point I just want to disable the entire feature, so it doesn't even
show up in the context menu.

Thanks,

Dan

Delays are normally caused by floppies, CDs, or shortcuts to network things. Floppies and CD burners are added automatically.

Delete this
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\Send To

Thanks David - that did the trick

There is IMHO a very useless feature in customize start menu>>advanced
[ ] Open submenus when I pause on them with my mouse.
This is enabled by default.
Might help might not??????
