Thanks for responding and I apologize for being so
vague. I believe the difficulty I am having is through
Internet Explorer because I can open word docs in my
Outlook Express.
Outlook doesn't open word docs. You can get word docs as attachments in
outlook express, but you need Word or a similar worrd processing program to
actually open the documents. So....either you mean something different when
you say "open " or what you're referring to aren't word docs.
In the same way, Internet Explorer doesn't open word docs either.
I have attempted to open documents that were previously
saved and I can not access them.
When you say you can't access them, what do you mean? You can't find them,
they don't look right when they open, you get error messages?
When I am mailed word
docs as attachments to my hotmail or yahoo accounts, they
will not open and the message I receive is: [Internet
explorer can not download <from site>. Internet explorer
was not able to open this internet site. The requested
site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please
try again later.]
If you get attached word docs, you should be saving the attachments instead
of trying to open them from within the web mail. Once they're on your
computer, you can open them with Word or whatever program you use. Actually,
that message sounds more like the file isn't an actual word doc, but it's
some sort of program that's trying to redirect you to another site and you
aren't able to get there. Might be a good thing that you aren't getting to
those sites.
We installed our HP scanjet 3200c today. It does not
have the proper drivers to work with XP, so I went to the
HP site to download. After 15 minutes of no downloading,
I cancelled the attempt. We are on broadband, and it
should have taken under a minute.
Have you scanned for viruses and spyware recently? Those can bring internet
access to a grinding halt. Did you get any error messages when downloading?
Did you get the popup that asks where you want to download to? Have you
tried right-clicking the link and choosing "save target as"? Do you have a
popup stopper installed that could be blocking the next part of the download
routine?
