ok, so i was working on a research paper and i when i went to save i
got a error message saying that windows encoutered a problem and needs
to close.....i had 5 whole pages typed! the document says it's not
responding but i have not closed it yet...IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO???

If you haven't closed it yet, can you copy it all and move it to a new word
doc.? Or if you're afraid Word is messed up, how 'bout moving it to a
notepad or wordpad doc. and saving it that way.

anybody else has any other suggestions i think i might b SOL...thanx

Try closing Word and opening it again. It *may* give you a chance to recover
the document. I won't make any promises tho. I hope that you've at least
learned to save your files more often. NEVER get so far into a project
without saving it that you're screwed if sh*t happens, which it will.

In cases such as these, when the system fails, you should be able to recover some of the work when
the computer restarts.
Word automatically makes backup files every X minutes (10 is the default time). About all you can
do now is power off the computer, restart and start word again. If it asks if you want to recover
your file, say yes. You may be lucky. Now you know the power of SAVE - SAVE and SAVE often. By
the way, if you close Word and tell it not to save the file, the backup copies are deleted too. If
the computer stops, the backup copies are saved.

yeaa i definately do now...thanx everybody....and if anybody has any
other suggestion please do leave a message

wow THNXX Richard....if i click my mouse really fast my comp feezes lol
so i took your advice and made it freeze, and when i restarted windows
and started up word again IT BROOUGHT BACK THE RECOVERED VERSION! thanx
a lot man you saved me a lot of time

Is this a wireless mouse? My Bluetooth mouse (and keyboard) used to freeze
when I had the receiver plugged into an unpowered hub. Plug it into the PC's
main board USB port.
