I tried everything suggested including reinstalling from XP Pro. I click on
it and the hour-glass fires for a minute but it never opens????

Just a thought, but you may want to make sure that the "Help and Support"
service started up properly.

To check k it out, go to Start/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services.

Then, scroll down to "Help and Support" and double-click.

Change the Startup Type drop-down window selection to "Automatic", and the
Service Status to "Start" (or "Resume"), and click OK.

Check the Status/Startup Type on the Service Page (it should now read as
Started/Automatic, and then try accessing the Help Center again.

Let us know if this works. Good Luck!

Da-uh, you think that wasn't the 1st thing I tried.

Somebody tries to help you, and he gets a snotty reply like that?

Do you think that will ingratiate yourself to others here and make us want
to help you?

Not me.

I tried all the Kelley's corner stuff suggested in previous problems with
this issue. I also re-installed Help from my XP-Pro install disk, still
didn't work.

However, I noticed a few others that did all these things and it was IE7.
Seems IE7 messed up Help Center. They said they uninstalled IE7 and when IE6
was back, Help worked again..... Anyone else heard of this?

One would assume those using newsgroups have some "expert" knowedge of
Windows and XP. I stated I tried other more complex things than just
starting the service and trying it again. Anyone would do that...............

Bad assumption. People come to here with all levels of experience. Since
you didn't post what you had tried, Youka's response was appropriate. The
problem is with you not posting a clear message. It should include what
troubleshooting steps you have done. Folks aren't mind readers. And now
you expect people to help you after you reply that way?

Not at all! Anyone who has been here for any length of time would assume
just the opposite. By far, the greatest number of people who ask questions
here know very little about Windows.

I stated I tried other more complex things than just
starting the service and trying it again.

Next time, be specific about what you've tried. If you are not specific, why
in the world would you be surprised to find that someone recommends
something you've already tried.

Anyone would do
that...............

Almost anyone would show considerably nmore humility and courtesy toward
those he was asking for help.
