help! cant get onto xp home

i have xp home. when i tried to delete the 2000 operating
system i screwed up. now when i try to log on i get---
\windows\sysytem32\config\system----- and i do not have
the xp start up disc anymore. i can get to a prompt but
what can i do to restore?
 
Apparently, you managed to cause some corruption with
the Windows XP registry. You will need your Windows XP
CD in order to repair your Windows XP installation.

If you haven't got the XP CD, you can access the Recovery Console with a set
of 6 floppy disks:

thank you. i did get the directions on how to restore but
when i start typing in the info that will allow me to make
a temp file out of the blue the puter turns itself off.
help. thanks
