Anybody! Please help me!
My kids were surfing the net, somewhere, somehow they
picked up something....I don't know if the two are
related, but this is how it is.....

My whole desktop icons are gone! When I right click with
my mouse to bring them back, the mouse click doesn't do
anything...It's as if I'm not clicking it...

AND

My taskbar is missing too!

Every 45 minutes a little window titled "Project1"
appears. In the window it says "It's time" with a "OK"
for you to click. After you click or X out of that window
a seris 5-7 pop up's appear.
The only way I can get to my programs is thru windows
explorer or "ctrl-alt-delete" and I use the "switch to"
or "new task" buttons.

Please someone tell me you know exactly what my kids
picked up!
b/t/w...I ran my updated Norton 2004 and Trojan and it's
clean thus far...

Thanks in advance,
Lulu

Hi - I have exactly the same problem - which seems to
have started since early Friday morning (Central European
Time) and affects all user profile on my machine.

Anyone know what this is and how to fix it / restore my
desktops.

Thanks in advance

I have the exact same problem and have been racking my
brain trying to fix this. If you have any luck please let
me know.

Hi all,

i think i had the same issue. desktop gone not start
folder and all users affected.
The only way to get things started was via taskmgr new
task.

I found a trojan horse on my disk and several weird
looking processes and applications in taskmgr.
I deleted the following process
and apps: "PUP" via taskmgr and something called "sisu"
(28kb) via explorer. That seemed to do the trick because
after that i had all desktops backand startmenu also.

BUT now my CD drive does not workanymore (maybe too much
regedits deleted) also the shortcut to the cd drive does
appear as not valid.

Good luck!
Erwin

thanks Erwin,
am trying this just now.

I also notice that if you leave the desktop for about 45
mins - 1 hour the project 1 box comes up and says "it's
time" - if you click OK ( I didn't really want to) you
get a run time error message - then your desktop is
restored...... - however cannot continue to work like
this.

Thanks for your help.

Hey everybody I work at Resnet at San Francisco State university and
have noticed these symptoms on a few machines today it seems to be
something new. Nothing out from Network associates about this but
here's the temperary solution i discovered. When your machine stalls
on boot hit control alt delete and then click processes and end the
process "sysu.exe". Your machine shold boot after this but sysu will
relaunch itself pretty quickly. I tried removing a registry key in
which i found sysu.exe still nothing. I also tried stoping alot of
startup items in MSconfig and still sysu starts up. So for now your
best bet is ending the sysu.exe process in the running processes
section of your task manager. If anybody else has any ideas let me
know
