Please help I am pulling hair out. Can not believe MS is seemingly
making this task impossible
PST is EXPORTED from Outlook2003 (sp1) - simply need to IMPORT into
Outlook2002
Got version incompatibility error !
This is a well-documented issue. Outlook 2003 PSTs are not compatible with
and cannot be read by any earlier vesion of Outlook.
Any way to make this work ? or I have to go back and export to csv
format folder by floder ?
DON'T EXPORT!!!!! Never export or import to transfer from Outlook to
Outlook.
To transfer the items from OL 2003 to OL 2002, create a new PST in the old
format (File>New>Outlook Data File>Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File
(.pst)). The, for each folder in your main PST, right-click and choose
Copy. Select as your output the new PST you've created. When all the
copying is done, close the new PST (right-click>Close) and close Outlook.
Now, copy that PST by whatever means you have to the OL 2002 machine. Place
it in any folder you wish, making sure you do NOT overwrite any PST of the
same name. Also make sure it is not read-only. Then start Outlook. CLick
File>Open>Outlook Data File, browse to the PST, select it, and click OK.
You can now copy the items in it to your OL 2002 PST or simply use the items
where they are.
