All of a sudden, y audio device does not work. I went into control panel,
sounds and audio devices, and it tells me that there is no audio device at
all. I am using a laptop with built in speakers, so I have no idea what is
happening here. Appreciate anyone who can help.

Check your device manager to see if it has a yellow explanantion point thru
it and see if it is actually there if not try reinstalling the driver the
onboard sound device may have died. Check device manager first

Bad/Missing Audio driver. Hold Windows key down and press the Pause/Break key.
Click the Hardware tab, then the Device Manager button.
Are there any "!" or "?" signs showing?
If so, try going to Windows Update and choose the 2nd option button. (Not
the "Express(recommended)" one. You may get an audio driver update.
If not, you should look in the upper left pane (after the scan) under
Hardware Updates or Optional Updates. If a # other than 0 is beside that
category, click on the category. Install if it refers to sound.
