When I click on Help and Support the following text appears
" Windows cannot open Help & Support because a system is not running. To fix
this problem start the service named help and support."
When looking at services on C drive I cannot find Help and Support.
Any ideas people??

Thanks

Click Start/Run and type Services.msc
Double-click Help and Support service
Set the startup type to Automatic
Start the service manually.

Thanks for the reply.
However when following your instructions the Help and Support service isn't
displayed.
Any further assistance would be greatfully accepted

You have been a great help
Followed everything you have said
Now when I try to start help and support following message appears " Error
1083 the executable program that this service is configured to run in does
not implement the service"
When I doubled clicked on Help and Support in services the following is
displayed " Configuration Manager the specified device instance handle does
not correspond to a present device"
HELP PLEASE!!

Geckododda,

Did you reboot once after merging the REG file? Try this as well:

Click Start/Run and type CMD
Type "sc qc helpsvc >c:\1.txt"

Open c:\1.txt in Notepad and post the contents here.

Richard,

In my system (Helpctr is working), the TYPE says:

TYPE : 20 WIN32_SHARE_PROCESS

Also, can you export the contents of this registry key?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\helpsvc
