Dennis

Hello,
I wanted to check my DirectX settings, so I went to Help
and Support and looked up 'DirectX'. This came up with a
few topics, so I clicked on 'Troubleshooting DirectX'.
Then I clicked on 'Open the DirectX Diagnostic Tool'
link, and nothing happens! I tried it on my XP Home (at
home) and it works properly. I can run dxdiag.exe from
the Start>Run and it runs fine. I tried saving the link
into my favorites, and it saves the link as:

ms-
its:C:\WINDOWS\Help\misc.chm::/EXEC=,dxdiag.exe
CHM=ntshared.chm
FILE=alt_url_windows_component.htm

I don't know if I can change the link or not, but it
doesn't seem to be able to find the dxdiag.exe file.

P.s. there are some other things about Help and Support
Center that are not working properly...

thx,
Dennis

The help file uses ShortCut commands to open other programs. Recent
versions of HTML Help impose some restrictions on the use of these
commands, and it's possible that you are bumping into these
restrictions, which are described here:

http://helpware.net/htmlhelp/hh_info.htm#hh14

Failing this, you may find that you can fix the problem by installing
Critical Update 811630 (which will upgrade the version of HTML Help on
your system.)

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=811630

For problems with the help troubleshooters, try searching for the file
TShoot.inf in Windows Explorer, right-clicking it, and selecting
Install from the context menu.
