When I click on help and support, and system information I get no response.
And I also noted today that the disk defrag didnt want to run/finish
defraging... ? I cannot even find the help files when searching for them!

Has this worked previously? Have you recently done an upgrade from another
version of WIndows or is this a clean install?
As a point of information (because it won't solve your problem) your
system is not ideal for running Windows XP. I am sure there are those who
would disagree, but I would expect 512 of RAM would be minimum although some
run 256 and think it is just fine, but if you are attempting to open a few
windows or display photos or something of that nature that requires RAM plus
a more robust processor you will have this response, or rather, a lack of
response. It is easy for someone else to encourage you to spend your hard
earned money, but you need a more current PC.

I recently upgraded with a disk disk (not a copy) I purchased from a pc guy
in the area. Previously the PC ran win 98se.
We cannot at this time afford another computer ( or another trip to the pc
guy for that matter)... Which is why I'm asking here... do you think it
would be worthwhile for me to add more ram? I could probibly afford to do
that....
Thanks...

Oh, and I honestly dont remember if I did use it previously... I use my
sister's pc all the time, and have used hers to troubleshoot her pc, so it's
hard to remember a difference....
