Hi,
My fren's PC after installed, the speakers was not able to function &
turn ON without sound.
Really need to know what OS you're using, but having had this problem
myself after installing XP, here's what I tried.
My problem was caused by having Win ME on my old disk, whilst installing
XP onto a new disk. Then, even though I booted to XP every time, somehow
the sound card was still controlled by the old disk WinME system. Cured
by disconnecting the power to the old disk, rebooting, sound came
through OK, and stayed with XP even after reconnecting the old disk.
Some things to check if you're in XP
Start/settings/control panel/Sounds and Audio Devices/Check through the
settings on the Volume, Sounds,Audio,Voice tabs. Whilst in the Sounds
tab, Sounds scheme to Windows Default, select one of the Program Events
(e.g. Asterisk) and click on the small arrowhead underneath (between the
'Sounds' window and the 'Browse' button) you should hear a system sound.
Also try My Computer/Properties/Hardware/Device Manager/click on Device
manager button, then the Sound, Video and Game Controllers icon +.
This should drop down to show your sound card, double click it and check
through the tabs to make sure it's enabled , recognised and has drivers.
Might be worth trying to 'update driver' (you need to be connected to
the internet to do this).
Hope that helps, you may also like to post in 24hoursupport.helpdesk
which is really the right place to ask, though we all ask here anyway
