please to help a poor wee(5ft) helpless newbeeeee!!!

eliza awaits your advice xx

Nothing involving a computer is idiot proof.

You have to explain what you mean "my PC's recovery data". Are you referring
to the manufacturer's recovery partition? Are you wanting to make an exact
copy of what's on your hard disk? Are you wanting to copy certain key files
and folders of your choice? Something else?

Hi Ted

eliza here again many thanks for your reply following on the topic of my
data backups, i have a PACKARD BELL PC and in my manufacturers manual it
informs me to use their program (PACKARD BELL MASTER CD/DVD CREATOR) to make
a safe copy of recovery data stored in my hard disk drive to a" MASTER DVD"
or set of" MASTER CD,S" (STRONGLY RECOMMENDED). However the confusion herein
lies does windows xp not have it,s own system restore anyway if my pc should
crash, and if i do have to do my backup will i have to disable my pc
protection ??? Phewww!!! Ive only just managed to conguire how to set my pc
protection haha!!! Don,t you just think i need to do a course? NEEEWWWBEE!!
or what!! am i the only idiot out there just learnin the ropes (feelin so
alone ) she weeps

Have a nice one eliza

Packard Bell is probably referring to their recovery partition. The recovery
partition erases your hard disk and reinstalls the software that was on your
computer when it left the factory. By copying the recovery partition to CDs
or DVDs you will have a copy of the recovery partition that you can use in
case the original partition gets damaged, or if you wish to delete the
original recovery partition to regain the disk space. Since recovery
techniques are unique to each manufacturer, you have to follow Packard
Bell's directions.

System Restore is a feature of Windows XP that is very different from a
recovery partition. The purpose of System Restore is to copy a small
collection of key system files that could be used to restore a damaged
Windows installation to life.

Yes, you should take a course if you're a newbie, or whatever other method
that helps you learn how to use your computer correctly and wisely. And you
are no idiot, because you recognize that you have a lot to learn and are
willing to invest the time to learn. The real idiot is the one who just
plows ahead blindly and gets themselves into all manner of trouble.
