Somebody please help - I've been using XP Home for 10 months now, with no
problems. Today, for no apparent reason several 16 bit applications I
regularly use just stopped working and I just get an error message as
follows:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running
MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the
application.

These programs have always worked perfectly until now. Anyone have any
ideas what I can do ?

Did you originally have to run these programs in DOS compatibility mode
(R-click on the .EXE, go to compatibility)?
It also sounds like you may have installed something that changed (and made
a backup of) your autoexec.bat file. This file is commonly required by older
16-bit Windows apps. Check for backups of your autoexec.bat file.

Tried that procedure and it worked like a charm - thanks for saving me a lot
of grief.
