Header not recognized

When I get e-mail from one particular person (who is using Netscape 4.8 to
send), Outlook does not recognize the header info. The "from" and "subject"
fields show as blank, and the header information is shown in the message body.

I do not have this problem with e-mail from anyone else (including others
also using Netscaoe 4.8), and other people receiving e-mail from this person,
do not have this problem.

Any ideas as to what combination of header info and settings in my Outlook
cause this?

No Blank line in the headers.

Correction to original post:
The Subject: does get displayed, so on some level it does recognize the
headers.

However the From: does not get displayed (yes, there is a From: line in the
header).
Also, the entire header is included in the message text.
Also, Outlook will not allow me to forward the message.

The problem with Outlook is that once the e-mail is received into
Outlook then it gets converted into Microsoft's proprietary format when
stored in the .pst file. You never see exactly what you were sent.
Configure Outlook Express to leave messages on the server. Have the
sender send you another copy of the same problematic message and
retrieve it using Outlook Express. Then look at the raw format for the
e-mail (select the message in the header list pane and hit Ctrl+F3).
You might see something peculiar in there, or you could copy and paste
the test e-mail here (but munge out any sensitive info, like your e-mail
address, or substitute with placeholders, like <myemail>, <theiremail>,
etc.). Because you configure OE to leave messages on the server, also
retrieve it using Outlook to make sure the test message actually
exhibits the problematic behavior that you noted in your first post in
this thread.
 
The problem is caused by the following header line:

Content-Type: text/plain; charset=x-user-defined

Apparently, that is how Netscape 4.8 indicates formatted text. I am
actually trying to resolve this problem for a friend of mine who is running
Outlook 2000. I have Outlook 2002 (XP) and Outlook 2003 running on my
computers - and they seem to handle this fine.

I don't know whether this is due to the difference in version, or some
setting. Is it possible there is a setting in Outlook 2000 which will enable
it to deal with "charset=x-user-defined"?
