Hi.

With Word 2k running on Win2K, is there a way to modify the margins of a
document without it modifying the header and footer margins?

Thank you.

The header and footer margins are set separately from the top and bottom
margins, if that's what you're asking. See

I am trying to adjust the left and right margin of a document but do not want
it applied to the left and right margin of the header and footer. I need the
header to be wider than the rest of the document.

Change the left and right indents (and corresponding tab settings for the
Header style). It is possible to have negative indents (outside the page
margins).

Is there a way to "freeze" the indents in the header and footer so they are
not modified when the left and right margins are changed? Your suggestion
works fine as long as the left and right margins are not modified later.

You could put the header/footer text in a table cell/row of fixed width.

If I modify the left and right margins it still moves the position of the
header. I would like the header to always remain in the same position and be
able to adjust the left or right margin when typing a document.

If you center the table and check the Compatibility Option to "Allow tables
to extend into margins," does this help?

Is that option available in Word 2000?

I think it's enabled by default in Word 2000.
