I'm trying to obtain (free) HDTune as an additional tool to check out
a suspect HD. But http://www.hdtune.com/ fails repeatedly, with a
timeout error. Anyone know of an alternative download source please?

Thanks both. Got it from majorgeeks, then tried hdtune site again -
with success this time. Site must have been down for a few hours.

Yup. . . and a newer version is available there. . . :)

Will get that sometime - but as HD Tune 2.50 has just confirmed my HD
is failing, my priorities have suddenly assumed a new focus!

Ouch, my profound sympathy.

Thanks. My data backups were pretty good, but I was very nervous about
the OS. However, pleased to say I've just successfully updated the XP
OS copy I'd made a couple of months ago from C: (on the dodgy HD0)
onto E: (on HD1). It took Drive Image 2002 half a day to do it (about
11 GB, and presumably the bad blocks slowed it down) but it worked.
(I'm composing this after booting to that copy OS.)

Would any freeware have done that job, i.e. made an identical copy of
C: onto E:, ready for booting?
