hdd with physical damage

Hi,

By starting the PC this morning, i get following :

No boot possible, all diagnositc tools seems to show that the
disk has physical damages (i run utilities from UBCD24, auto-tests
and tests for SEAGATE)

No scanreg /whatever possible.

scandisk is satisfied with the folder structure, but checking the surface
hangs on sector 6. So the test can't go further !

But the files seems to be there.... have anyone a power tool to check
disk integrity ?

the disk is only 4 years old :( 20 Gb from seagate.

No, it didn't ! you should have been more patient, noob ! it did
try to correct the errors, which take some time.

how ever, 3 errors occured in the registry, that is very strange !

3 times the registry was damaged, that is more than random fall out
would produce... very strange. Any ideas ?

THe files might not be there. Their entries may still be in the FAT but
that doesn't mean they're on an unaffected area.

Try spinrite from http://grc.com. Takes an age to run, but is far better
than Microsoft Scandisk by far.

How valuable is your data? There's not alot of freeware in this area.
