We have recently upgraded our machine to windows xp pro
operating system. It was working fine for one day then
the next morning when starting up the following error
message appeared "Boot disk failure, Insert system disk
and press enter" I have inserted the XP disk and got so
far with it but the machine is saying there is no hard
drive? Our IT department recently removed a partition
from the disk in order to install xp pro. Surely if that
was the problem it wouldn't have worked at all?

Please help.

Hi

The properly way to do is to call your IT department to fix it

Gale,

I had the same problem. I found that turning the
computer on and off would resolve it. I believe it had
something to do with installing the NTFS file system,
because I reformatted and reinstalled with FAT32 and the
problem went away. In my case, the BIOS did not
recognize the HDD.

Have the same problem. Warm boot, hard drive not found, cold boot, no
problem. It's always been FAT32, though. Bound to be something XP is
doing, but darned if I can figure out what. Any ideas?
