Ok, so now I'm looking at all these HD's. I notice that many of them are
SATA instead of ATA. I have ATA of course. I see that there are adaptors
for power and data cords. Does anyone have any experience with these? Do
they work well? Am I better off getting a SATA with adaptors or should I
just dig up ATA drives?

Paul.

Your mainboard would need to support SATA, it must have SATA data
connectors on the mainboard. My SATA drive accepts either power
connector, the old IDE or a new SATA power connector.

What is your mainboard make and model?

There are plenty of ATA drives out there. I would and do stick to them, If
I'm working with an ATA system

I personally don't use the adapter, but I have outfitted a few other
machines with them. They work but don't buy the 'cheapest' when deciding on
a purchase.
