I do have the office email and I copied the pop3 and smtp but it still won't
work... what am I doing wrong? Here is the message I get...

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'Fw:
test 2', Account: 'Carolyn Harris', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol:
SMTP, Server Response: '550 5.1.1 <[email protected]> recipient
invalid domain', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number:
0x800CCC79

You have a typo in the email address you are trying to send to...
hotmail.ocm
should be hotmail.com

Look closely:

(e-mail address removed) should be (e-mail address removed)

According to that error message, you are trying to send to a hotmail.ocm
address, ('(e-mail address removed)'), instead of '(e-mail address removed),
correct the email address and try again.

Thanks for showing me that typo...but I still can't sent email... Now it
says... "the host 'pop3' could not be found. Please verify that you have
entered the server name correctly.

Thanks in advance for your assistance...

"pop3" is not a valid mail server name. Have you changed something?
In your first error message, the server name was 'smtp.comcast.net'.

Yes, I did but I didn't change the smtp.comcast.net.... I changed the the
mail.comcast.net to pop3... but of course it doesn't work. I went to tools,
then accounts, then Servers, then Incoming mail - where I put - pop3, the
outgoing mail - smtp.comcast.net - I did not change. Does the part - No,
Socket Error: 11001, and Error Number:0x800CCC0D have an answer...thanks

mail.comcast.net

Comcast incoming mail server: mail.comcast.net
Comcast outgoing mail server: smtp.comcast.net

See http://www.comcast.net/help/faq/index.jsp?faq=Emailtop17686
Use the settings that are described for Outlook Express.

What if any error messages do you get when you try to send or
receive? Show the entire error messages.

Here's a fix that handles a common problem that may fit your
description - download and install it with Windows Mail not
running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works
in other folders. If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit
version or the 64-bit version, try the 32-bit version first.

What if any antivirus programs do you have? Some of them
cause such problems, although seldom immediately.
