Having trouble repairing xp

I was unable to log on to my account as it would
immediately log me off and save my settings. This occured
after updatin my vius software and looking at some other
notices, i am not alone.

I followed the instructions given by michael solomon on
how to fix this.

The trouble i am having is now this. I have had to run the
repair installation and all looks good as is goes through
the setup and i get the normal 39 minutes to go.
This continues up until the registering devices part and a
little bit into to this the pc reboots and then starts the
process again without intervention.
This continues until it gets back to the registering
devices part and then reboots again and does the same
thing all over again.
I cannot get any further.
Can anyone please offer any help as i really need to save
some of my work and do not want to do a clean install.
 
Are you able to attempt to boot and get into SAFE MODE.

If so then use System Restore and chnge back to Prior to the Update of AV
software.

It is always best to use System restore before any other dramatic proceedure
