same as what? are you for real? how about the message that i was responding to, the one before mine, i would have figured it difficult to miss the first message

next time you post, how about you just offer some advice on the problem, i could care less about your posting etiquette

You are doing it again. THIS IS NOT A CHAT ROOM this is a news group. The
large proportion of user here do NOT use the web interface, and so quite
possibly cannot see "the one before yours"

Did you bother to look at the links I gave you?

Hi,

When I login with a password and enter, it does the regular stuff until it gets up to showing the desktop. The wallpaper flashes once and then my account logs out.

"Blazefind changes the following registry-key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
"Userinit" = "C:\WINNT\system32\userinit.exe,"

in

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
"Userinit" = "C:\WINNT\system32\wsaupdater.exe,"

Used Lavasoft Adaware to get rid of the pest ----> removed blazefind
and
with it the wsaupdater.exe

==> next time i tried to logon my computer the system tries to run
wsaupdater.exe which it couldn't find ! FAILED LOGON -> LOGOFF

I first tried to find ways to change the registry from within the
recovery console but i did not succeed (ERD commander will probably
work, but since i wasn't sure that this was the problem i thought it a
little bit too expensive)...
Then i thought of this:
just copy userinit.exe as wsaupdater.exe !! It's as simple as that....

YES!! it works again... and blazefind is gone (it seems.... :-) )"

Using the recovery console employ the command

copy C:\Windows\System32\userinit.exe
C:\Windows\System32\wsaupdater.exe

(this is one line separated by a space, supposing the partition where
windows is installed is C, and supposing blazefind caused this)

How to install and use the Recovery Console in Windows XP

Good luck

I was so excited. I have been trying to figure this out for two days. I thought this was it. Alas, i still have same problem, but with a twist. I try to logon and it just says loading personal settings and then hangs. But when it hangs there are two things running (I use ALT-TAB to see what is running.) One is "Windows Logon"
which appears to be hung. The other is a process with no name that is just a small information or error type box with a Red square with an x throguh it and a larger Red circle with an X through it. No words anywhere. Clicking either x just closes this box and i am still hung at the WELCOME screen waiting to logon. Safe mode is no better, same issue.
