Having problems installing printer driver

I've downloaded the printer driver for a Lexmark 1000
ColorJet printer that is supposed to be for Windows XP,
but cannot install it. I keep getting an error saying that
the file is not digitally signed or something like that &
then getting a message I don't understand with the options
1)Continue installation anyway & 2) Stop installation. Any
help would be greatly appreciated!
 
The "error" message is warning alerting you to the fact that the binary is
unsigned. If you trust the source of the binary, you can hit Continue and it
should install fine. If you're not sure you can trust the binary, I'd rather
not install it. Basically, the signature verifies that a certain file was
tested (a little bit) by MS and virus-checked (a lot) and hasn't changed
since that was done.
 
having same problems. tried installing lexmark 1150 all in 1 printer-scanner-copier. Getting printer driver not installed error box. called lexmark support and we tried 3 times to load software and get all in 1 working. Thye scanner works, but no printer. using xp-home, if u get it up and working i would appriecate any help. any help from any1 would be appriecated!!!

I don't see how this is the same error - you say you're getting "print
driver not installed" error, the original poster gets the signature warning.

I do not understand Lexmark's choices in their setup programs, so I am sorry
but I can't offer much help there. If you're using the add printer wizard,
check out Brian Boston's FAQ in this newsgroup for the possible reasons
behind it's failures and their workarounds.

Still can't get lexmark printer driver to install. Tried all procedures on clean printer drivers page. I have xp-home-oem edition, can somrthing be not turned on??? deleted oem drivers from lexmark. Cp is a homebuild, intel1.6g,intel 845 chipset mobo, updated latest mobo drivers. I'm lost, going to try on a different cp. any advice willl be appreicated.
 
getting error messages, specified port unknown=>after installing lexmark software again, went to device mang. amd noticed 3 yellow ?'s next to unknown devices in the dropdown menu. ??? getting various errors from each 1. first 1 when i try to update driver get a error =>specified port unknown. Was able to update the scanner driver for the all in 1 but not the printer driver. My cp reconizes the all in 1 as a imaging device. how can i get my cp to recongize as a printer??????? Also in setting-printers-server properties-ports-add a port thers no tcp/ipx/dlc protocols. Where do i get them????? could i have deleted them??? also printer drivers for windows xp itanium???? sez i need lxbkw2k.inf files where can i get them and do i need them????? and the last thing after trying to reinstall the lexmark software and waiting to the install prompts me to plug the usb cable in. Its sez to connect the printer to the cp, well i hear the sound (the sound that tells u u are pluged in)but the install will not continue cause its tellin me its not connected(bought a new usb printer cable) didn't solve it. How can my cp recongize the all in 1 as a imaging device(when its connected) and not recongize the printer(when its connected) and another thing, when i try to install from a specific location and u get the drop down box how can i delete the choices on it (some old nvidia drivers and other files)???
