I re-installed Windows XP on my computer because I had had a virus earlier
this summer, but nothing too bad happened. Well anyways now that I have
re-installed Windows XP I am having a couple annoying problems. First of
all, I cannot change my screen resolution to anything but the lowest color
resolution and the highest screen size. Second of all, I have no sound!!
Could someone please help me, I am a little frustrated. LOL

You need to install the sound and video drivers.
And possibly other drivers as well.

Go to the manufacturers website and get the latest Windows XP drivers.

I take it that you have proper virus protection now and
you ran a scan

Open up control panel, switch to category view if
necessary, select appearance and themes ,select display,
select settings tab. Between troubleshoot and advance
you might figure out something there.

The sound is little more difficult, check that volume is
up. check that your speakers are in proper jack

if thats ok then:

in control panel, select sound, speech and audio devices,

select sound and audio devices, under hardware,
troubleshoot each device.
