Help! I have tw omajor problems with Outlook 2003 and I don't know if they
are related. I am running winxp pro and have jsut upgraded to Office 2003.
Everything was great for about 3 weeks, and now two things happen.

1) When I start up Outlook i get a message that says "There was a problem
reading one or more of your reminders. Some reminders may not appear. The
server is not available. Contact your administrator if this condition
persists."

Then after I hit ok, outlook continues to open, however 50% of the time I
get errors when I try to retreive mail. The other 50% I receive email just
fine, however 100% of the time I can't send mail, and I don't get an error
message, the email just sits in my outbox!

HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Assuming that you are working with a POP/IMAP account, have you run the
inbox repair tool (scanpst.exe) against your pst file to rule out
corruption?

Have you tried starting Outlook 1 time with the /cleanreminders command line
switch?

How many items in your Sent Items folder and/or how large is your PST file?

Neo-

I did run scanpst.exe and no errors came up.

I've tried running outlook with /cleanreminders, but it says that the file
cannot be found.

There is one item in the sent items folder abd the pst file is 22.2MB.

Thanks for your help,

Marc

The file can't be found sounds like Outlook can't figure out what the
default *.pst file is or the profile has become partially corrupt. Have you
tried creating a new mail profile via the mail applet in the control panel?
(don't copy the old one. create a new one and switch to it.)

Make sure you're using the proper syntax when running the /CleanReminders
switch. If you have Outlook installed in the default location, it should
work if you type the following into the Run box on the Start menu:

outlook.exe /cleanreminders

(Note the space between "exe" and the switch).

If that doesn't work, you may have to provide the full path to your
outlook.exe file... e.g.

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\Outlook.exe" /cleanreminders

(Note the above would be all on one line, and the quotes are there because
there are spaces in the file path.)

Just add your .pst to that profile.
