I have a main keyboard that is attached to my desktop computer. It is
attached via the PS/2 port for the keyboard and the PS/2 port for the mouse.

I want the ability to be able to have a second keyboard to use when I go
over to my couch. Can I just attach a USB Keyboard while the PS/2
keyboards are still plugged in? HOw do I tell WinXPHome that I now want to
use just the USBKeyboard and mouse rather than the PS/2 keyboard? ... is
that done thru the ControlPanel labelled as Keyboard?

Thank you.

Maybe a wireless keyboard and mouse is the answer to your problem.

Most wireless keyboards & mice, except Bluetooth ones, have a limited range,
usually somewhere in the area of around 5 to 10 feet. And the Bluetooth
ones are much more expensive, than regular wireless ones.

Although the other answers are correct.. one wireless keyboard is fine.. You
can hook two up no problem.. Nothing to do on your end.. Both work at the
same time..

Just hook up USB ones.
