there any way to get the system restore icon back on my start menu (short of
installing it from the win xp disk ?? need help
thks

You'll find the executable at %SystemRoot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe .
Create a shortcut to that on your desktop or any place else you'd like it and
you are set. Make sure it's a shortcut-don't copy the executable.

Create a shortcut to
%SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe
(right-click desktop > new > shortcut)
and drag it to your start button .....

It's normally found in Start | All Programs | Accessories | System
Tools. Also it's accessible from Start | Help and Support. Open the
Help window and choose System Restore from the menu line.
