My grandkids computer was hit with a virus or something and would not boot
up.
I took harddrive out and put in my computer as a slave.
I then did a virus scan to remove a worm.
Next I wanted to copy hard drive to mine foe a backup.
I need to reformat their hard drive.
It let me copy everything that was under a user without a password.
The users that have a password will not let me copy.
I have tried reinstalling windows but it still wont boot up.
I want to know is their a way to open the user files if I have their
password. I relly don't want to loose their Data if I don't have to

Thanks
Mark

It is the NTFS permissions on the inaccessible areas.
This should let you have access to the areas so you
can copy / backup.
Take Ownership see Help and Support, or
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=308421
Note that you should not do this to an account's profile
if that account is still going to be logging into that system/
