Hi!
I have a Acer Travelmate 4601WMLi. I use Windows XP Professesional Service
Pack 2 with all updates until June 6, 2006.
When I want to save data to the hard disk I get from time to time a Blue
Screen Error STOP: 0x0000007F (0x0000000D, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0)
UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP or the system hangs up (only hardware restart
possible). The Windows system event log shows then several disk errors with
event id 11: IO_ERR_CONTROLLER_ERROR (The driver detected a controller
error on %1.)
I have made the following test:
- RAM test with Memtest86 (24 hour test)
- hard disk test with Drive Fitness Test from Hitachi (24 hour test)
- hard disk test with Windows CHKDSK
These tests reported no errors.
I formatted the entire hard disk and made a Windows clean install. I
installed only Windows XP and its updates as well as the necessary hardware
drivers (latest version). I installed no other software. This did not solve
the problem. I made the above mentioned tests again without any error
report. I then bought a new hard disk (also a Hitachi Travelstar) and made
again a new Windows clean install. I check also the connection between the
hard disk and the motherborad visually. The problem still remains.
Here are my questions:
1. Is this a know problem? Are similar problems known?
2. What could I try to solve the problem?
3. Is there a motherboard test software to test the hard disk controller?
Thank you very much!
Kind regards,
Horst Stech
