Hard hang - help!

While connecting to internet (Internet Explorer 6) , home
page starts to load,stops and hangs.PC becomes totally
unresponsive-wont even respond to "end task".Neither will
it shut down -start, shutdown etc. Only way to shutdown
and restart is by shutting off power.Restarts ok but same
thing happens over and over.Same fault if I try connecting
with Outlook Express.Every program that does not require
an internet connection is working.No error messages.
Win XP HE -Dell Dimension 8300. Any suggestions,

Kelly,thanks but I am unable to download as I cannot
connect to internet as described earlier.(currently using
office pc). How do I determine version of mshtml.dll and
jvm? Also - I ran error log for yesterday - shows about 50
entries, many of which are repetitive, but the most
frequent are,
1.Application n hang - IEXPLORE.EXE version 6.0.2800.1106,
hang module hungapp,version 0.0.0.0 hang address 0x00000000
2. True Vector Service engine
file "C:\WINDOWS\Internet\logs\IAMDB.RDB" was corrupt and
has been deleted.
3.True vector engine file "C\WINDOWS\Internet
logs\D243RROJ.lbd" was corrupt and has been deleted.
Above errors are repeated over and over. ????

David, many many thanks - turned off Zone Alarm Pro and
problem solved! Should I uninstall or reinstall Zone
Alarm as it was working perfectly until this episode.
