Anyone had success with the installation of a 2nd hard drive? It's in, however the device manager sees it but the type is unknown, the status is not initialized. It's a MAXTOR 80gb. Can't figure this one out. Thanks!

Follow the data cable down from your primary drive and make sure it's in the
very next slot in that cable if there are more than 2. Also, check your
jumpers. Many companies set the jumpers for the drive to be the boot drive
and have to be changed to the secondary drive settings. Last, go into your
BIOS and see if that drive is showing up there. It may be you have to go in
and have the BIOS detect it before Windows will see it.

Has the BIOS recognized the new drive and has it been formatted?

1 - set your jumpers on both drives and make sure your cable is going to
the proper drives
2 - on boot, goto bios, set it to auto and it should detect, leave it
there unless u feel the need to change but it will suffice
3 - enjoy dual harddrives, provided you set the jumpers correctly, its a
very simple task ;)
