I have 2 hard drives as of now...one for files and one for programs. My computer is running really slow, downloaded all patches, running norton, and it is still slow. Defragged both drives, still slow. Now my question is can I put everything on the slave and then re install windows from the BIOS or will that wipe out the slave drive as well?

Brian,

If you do a clean install of Windows, you'll only clear out the partition that
you install into. The files on the slave will be safe.

You'll still have to re install the programs though.

If the computer is running slowly, simply re installing the operating system may
not fix things for long. If you re install the same software, and return to the
same websites, you will likely end up with the same problem after a while.

What security products, besides Norton, do you have on the computer (firewall,
antispyware, etc)? Many problems are not caused by viruses.

Chuck
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.

Chuck:
I had my firewall set up and then I took it off to disable the sasser or blaster one of the two...can't remember. but then when I tried to enable it again it wouldn't let me it gave me this:
The dependency group failed to load.

So as of now, I don't have a firewall that's one reason why I was going to BIOS it.
Also my Norton doesn't want to stay active, I'll click on it and then it will disappear after a few seconds. what do you think?
