Ok this is a long one so read carfully. I out together a new comupter from scratch that i bought, I did not buy a hard drive because i had one in my older computer that was still good that i wanted to use.
So when i put together the computer I put in the Hard drive and Windows XP(which was already saved on the Hard drive) did not boot up. I found out that you cant take a Hard drive from a computer and put it in a new one so my Bad. So i decided to erase everything from the hard drive by putting it in my old computer again and then putting it into my new compter with absolutly no data on it.
I put the Hard Drive into my old Comp after taking it out, and it would not work, i couldnt boot up windows once again, it simply showed a black screen with the Ram and the top left corner and my name at the bottom right.

Help me! How do I get my Widows XP running again?

Comp specs:
New:
CPU: 2.8 ghz pentium 4
Self built with Intel mother board
old:
CPU: 500 mhz pentium 3
Compaq

Sounds oddly like corrupted bios, but I don't think that's it. Did you use antistatic device and did you (possibly) bend/break any components inside? This is not likely it, either, considering you have problem in both computers. ASSUMING that you installed the hardware correctly, I'm gonna say the FIRST thing you should probably do is use 'Repair' function from the XP cd...NOT the first one, the one where your O/S is selected/highlighted! You will retain most of your files by doing so

Don't give up on your HD just yet

Put the drive in the new computer again. Boot with your XP CD. Either
perform a repair installation (keeping all your old software and settings)
or use the partitioning features of the installer to start fresh. No need
to partition it in the old computer.

I trust when you say you removed all data you mean you formatted the drive
You should then have been able to boot the new PC with the XP CD and it would go through the install proceedure and ask what file system you want NTFS of Fat 32 and proceed with the clean install
Quite correct you can not take a system drive out of one PC and put it in another that has different hardware.
