Hard drive must be partitioned and formatted before use. If it's
destined to be a multi-media drive only - then a larger cluster
size beyond the default value of 4-KBytes may be beneficial. You
can use DiskMgmt.Msc from the Run prompt to perform those
operations.
For redirecting the My Music folder, use Tweak-UI Powertoy.
The option is found under My Computer, Special Folders. Toggle
the profile folder in the window to My Music then use the Change
Location button to your new physical drive/volume.
