OS=XP Pro with SR1. I have been using Norton Ghost 2003
without a problem till now. I was trying to upgrade my
daughters hard drive from a 30GB to an 80GB (both IBM
Deskstars) and partitioned with 5GB "C" drives. The ghost
image on CD-R was made without problem but the 80GB won't
boot into XP. It comes up to a Log-In screen giving the
user name and asking for a password. There is no password.
No such log-in requirement exists on the original 30GB
from which the image was made.

On a lark I tried the very same image on a 40GB Deskstar
and it work perfectly. Booting right up to my daughter's
desktop. No password required.

Any ideas???

I think I'll try ERD Commander to try to get around the
password requirement.

Hello

Well it's never a full proof process and the best way is to just
do a clean install and back up your data, it's a bit long but you
never have to worry about if somethign is not working. I have
seen lots of post about Norton's Ghost 2003 working fine for
some users and other plain headache. I prefer just to do a clean
install. Always works for me. Just a thought

Update...rather than "ghost" partition by partition I did
the whole drive in a single action. It worked without a
hitch!
