my unkle gave me his 95 lap top i put windows XP on the hard drive but now when i turn it on the computer just sits there on the manufacurers splash screen. i was wandering if the CPU and main bord was compatible with windows XP because it was a 95.
 
Unfortunately, your hardware may be inadequate to install and run
Windows XP properly. I suggest you stay with Windows 95 or
upgrade to Windows 98.

1. Delete the Windows XP partition.
2. Create a new partition.
3. Format the new partition FAT32.
4. Install your desired Windows Operating System.

there are some min. specs. for xp
128 RA

So if you have that it should be ok, however the file system of the HD is different. I would do a clean install, meaning deleting the partition of the HD, craeting a new partition in ntfs format and formatting it
