I have a home built w/an athalon 1.4Ghz cpu, 512Gig ram and an 80Gig
Maxtor drive.
I don't use it every day, it is my back-up PC.
I tried to boot to it today, and it gets to the XPproSP2 screen,
then reboots. No errors, just reboots. I have GoBack on it, and it
does not seem to matter how far back I have tried to restore, it
still get to the same place then reboots.
I tried the recovery panel to recover, but this does not work.
I removed the drive and changed it to a slave, put it on my other pc
as a Primary/slave to check it for erros...
The 2nd pc bios recognizes it correctly.
Device manager recognizes it correctly.
Windows XP SP1 Management console, disk manager, recognizes it as a
74.55 Gig NTFS, Healthy, active drive.
HOWEVER, it won't allow me to assign it a drive letter, and it won't
let me explore it.
Any ideas?? Suggestions?? I want to be able to recover the drive
data if possible. I can't get to the point to do an in place
rebuild... yet.
