Hard Drive Spinning

OK This is driving me nuts! Every once in a while my hard drive light
starts blinking like crazy. I have looked to see is there is an AV or
Spyware scan going on. I don't see any processes that are out of
line. CPU usage is running for about 45 to 99 percent and nothing is
running.

The only thing I can think of is that the system is looking to
compress files.

Anyone have any ideas as to what is happening.

Try turning off the Indexing service.

Start>Run>services.msc [enter]

Scroll down to the Indexing service, stop and disable it. See if that
solves the issue.

are you running the "indexing" service ?

No. It is not started and it is listed as manual start.

don't happen to have "find fast" installed ? (would show in control panel)

you said CPU usage was 45-99% ..but does not show which item is using it in
taskmanager?

Well. Something is running. You just haven't found out what it is yet.
