Recently purchased a Memorex 16x Duel-Format, Double Layer drive. In the
BackItUp welcome window there is a icon to, Create New Drive Backup. In
clicking the icon to follow the process, the Drive Backup window appeared.
However, under Partition Name, C: was red out and there was a notation, File
system may currently be in use. Out of
curiosity, what would have to be temporarily disabled in order to initiate
the drive/partition backup? The information may be useful for future
reference. Please advise or refer.

Thanks

Windows XP is accessing the C: driver to:

1) Run itslef and its services
2) Usually, run most installed applications (fro in C:|"Program Files\")

Backups normally will not access opened files and it seems that the BackItUp
will not allow you to have access to the drive C: because of this.

You can image the C drive
You can buy a Backup program that runs off a CD/Floppy
Dual Layer does 8.4GB if the amount of files is less than that you can
copy/clone to a dual layer DVD
