My hard drive is continously clicking/working as if something is running.
How can I see what's running and change this?

Run filemon.exe from www.sysinternals.com

It will tell you exactly what is performing file i/o.

SysInternals has a tool called Diskmon, a real-time disk activity
utility. XP natively will do an Indexing on drives and also during
periods of inactivity, do the processing of Prefetch/Layout.Ini.

Well Grover, if your hard drive "is continously clicking/working", in
addition to using the Sysinternal's files suggested by "themeanies" & R.
McCarty, it would behoove you to use the hard drive diagnostic utility which
you can download from the manufacturer of your HD to determine if you have a
defective drive on your hands.
