Basically the title sums up my problem. I've tried to look
in the knowledgebase for this but I didn't find any
article of help. I'm using Windows XP and one of the
partitions in a hard drive is detected and accessible,
although it appears as a dvd.

Why is that and what can i do to prevent it?

That's pretty weird. You might look in your BIOS
see what the setting is for the IDE detection for your
hard drive. It probably should be set to "auto" (check
your mainboard manual).

Well, my bios settings shouldn't be causing trouble, since
i've had it running for more than 6 months now after last
format and haven't touched bios configurations
