Hard disk drive not found upon bootup

Suddenly upon startup my Dell Insperion with xp professional will not bootup, but all I get is message saying "Primary hard disk drive not found" " Fixed optical drive not found" and "No bootable devices". Can't do anything with recovery cd's since I can't bootup. Anyone seen this problem before? Does it sound like a virus?
 
Hi,

Sounds more like a loose cable. I would open the system and reseat the IDE
cabling (both ends).

Thanks for the tip. I'll try to check the connections tomorrow and reseat the IDE cabling. adraw.
