hard disk backup

I recently purchased an external hard drive that's larger than my C drive so that I can easily back up my C drive on a regular basis, thinking this would be a simple matter of copying . . . but now I can't figure out how to do it! Obviously I'm missing something . . . software? or just basic knowlege?

You need special software to do that. XP is inadequate for that. Search google
for a program to do that function.

ntackup.exe is part of XP and is a fine backup tool, within it's
limitations.

For XP/home it has to be installed after XP setup. Somene else
will have to tell us how to do it.
