Hangs up - stalls

Some days my computer works like a charm. Then, all of a
sudden it starts pausing, stalling for about 10-15 seconds
every 15 seconds or so. When I reboot, sometimes the CD
Drive will not start and if it doesn't the computer works
fine. At oher times when it restarts the CD Drive is
working and all is fine for a little while, but soon the
computer starts to stall again. Can anyone help me. This is
very frustrating.

try putting ethyl in your computer it appears it doesnt
like the 87 octane you are using and that the carburator
is stalling the system

Invoke Task Manager by right clicking on the Task Bar and then choosing Task
Manager. See what process(es) are using the CPU when it appears to stall.
Windows will appear to stall sometimes if some process like Seti@Home is
running in the background, even at low priority. The interaction with the
CD-ROM sounds like Windows Explorer might be testing the CD-ROM drive every
so often to see if a disk is in the drive. Make sure the cursor in Explorer
is not positioned on the drive. Also you might want to make sure any CD-ROM
disk in the drive is readable.
