When I print up from "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" if I select "Centered
and Rotated" I get a regular print but if I select "Cropped and Rotated" I
get a print that is split in the middle with two distinct shades. It only
happens with my Sony DCR-PC330 miniDV camcorder when I record to the Memory
Stick Pro. Changing resolution or media does not change the problem. There is
no problem with my Nikon 5700. It also happens with different printers. I am
sending the camera back for repair but I am curious as to why the difference
is so glaring with "Cropped and Rotated". It makes the picture slightly
bigger but the shade difference is catastrophic. If I use adobe to print it
up there is no problem. I thought it might be the software but after being
aware of the problem I can tell that it is there in an extremely subtle
almost indiscernible fashion. Has anyone else experienced this?

It sounds like the issue is with your printer.
Maybe there's an updated driver available.

That is what I thought at first. But, once I saw the photo as a different
shade I was then able to see on the monitor and to all the other computers
that I mailed the photo to that there was a difference. But the difference in
shading was extremely subtle unless the rotated and cropped format was
selected. The photo also comes out of the printer lengthwise and the shaded
half is vertical in the picture.

I did a full printer troubleshoot including calibration photos, etc and they
were all perfect. Also the Nikon 5700 always printed up perfect photos even
in rotated and cropped.

Well...ok, maybe it's the camera. Reading reviews
on the net indicate the still image quality in the
DCRPC330 is not as good as dedicated digital
cameras.

I'd suggest that a different application be used to view and rotate the
picture. Suggest Irfan viewer or even a trial copy (time limited) of one of
the better photo processing/editing programs.

Why--
Some of the earlier versions of a certain graphics editor had this problem.
I suspect that it might have been an ancestor of the program you are having
problems with.
